yes, he made it…

as of right now, im about as satisfied as i can get with the amount of work im willing to put into the site. it functions as well as i need it to, in a relatively “not completely disgusting looking” fashion. so heres a quick rundown of what the additions, enhancements, and renovations have yielded.

top navigation: the top 5 images are the main parts of the site (other than blog entries). they are as follows:

• rawk fingers: music - this is probably the section i spent the most time working on. there was lots of tweaking of an excellent script Tristan Harward graciously provided me to display an ongoing playlist of music i listen to. i previously had a feature similar that displayed all the songs in a text format, but i wanted a prettier version that grabbed album art, and this one works nicely. the only qualms i have with it are that since most of the music i listen to tends to be obscure, the Froogle search returns some weird stuff for some album covers. its hitting over 75% or so, so im satisfied. you can click on any song, artist, or album and it will take you to a catalogue page that will hopefully eventually catalogue most of my music. at the current rate it should have them all by this time next year. there other main amazing feature of the music section is the “personal radio” button you see above the “recently played songs” section. click on this button and it will prompt you to download a .m3u playlist that is streamed from my computer, shuffled from items that i have submitted to last.fm/audioscrobbler. its a great way to listen to good music if you dont know how. surrounding this link you will also find links to my audioscrobbler page, which gives a much better catalogued database of what i listen to (you should get one yourself), and my soulseek username.

• webcam: this is just an entry that is updated with the 3 webcams i periodically update. they are pretty self-explanatory. top image is a stream straight from my desktop. second is a crappy webcam on top of my monitor. third is sourced from my capture card, which isnt used that much right now. its listed as an entry, so the ability to post comments is available.
• cd cover: this is a little intro page of the old band my high school friends and i used to play in. its basically an explanation of where the name synide came from, with links to some songs we recorded, and a link to the un-altered site my friend and i made back in high school for the band. nostalgia purposes only.
• license plate: a link to my photo album. this will load a flash based photo album. you may need to clear your internet cache or refresh your browser from time to time if i update this.
• video: this is a list of the videos ive made that are available for public download. mostly old halo stuff, but i plan on having much more in the near future.

status bar: this is a list of the current chat mediums i use, my usernames, and current status. they should typically all read online (the icq is buggy with trillian) and if you click the image next to each, it will message me, assuming you have the chat medium installed. to the right are 3 quick links that are as follows.

• this is a list of external links
• this is a list of site requirements, along with suggestions of some great programs to use

entries: these are pretty self explanatory. there should be whatever ive posted for the last 15 days displayed. you can click on the title to get a permalink to the individual article. the category is listed in the top right corner. you can see how many comments have been made on the article in the bottom. click on this link and you can make your own smart-ass comment and run me further into the ground.

right sidebar: most of this stuff is repeated on each page, but some things are exclusive to the main page.

• calendar: this is just a calendar of the current month, with links to days on which ive posted. click on a date to get that dates individual entry archive.

• currently listening: this grabs the album art, artist, title, album name, and last played time of the song im currently listening to.
• web finds: these are quickies of interesting stuff i find on the web. i try to constrain myself, since there are so many sites out there devoted to “best of the web”
• categories/archives: these are just listings of the categories i sort posts by, and links to the archive-by-month. click on them to get a page full of that category or that month’s posts.
• recent entries: simply lists the last 10 or so entries ive made.
• syndicate: these are RSS 1.0/2.0 and atom links to those feeds. if you dont know what they are, figure it out, because rss kicks ass

so there you have it. synide.net 2.0. its a cross between fashion and functionality that im currently happy with. now comes the hard part. content. *goes blank*
