FAQ

Topic: life| No Comments »

Why is the site black?

Kind of like Maddox’s explanation, staring at a bright background hurts your eyes sometimes. That and im hella goth.

Where did the name synide come from?

it was the name of my high school band. check here for the full story

You know it’s spelled “cyanide” lol noob?

for real?

Why is the site so crappy?

because i suck. im sure yours is much better.

What is www.synide.net/music all about?

my winamp reports what song im currently listening to, then this awesome script a good guy named Tristan Harward lent me catalogues the information and grabs album art and such. its hot, and grabs about 80% of the album art correctly. fish around in there, youll find the best music in the world.

Are you really “The Phunkmasta”?

no, that guy totally stole my flow

How come you don’t make entries that often?

1. because i told myself i wouldnt make the blog into one of those “today kathy totally wore the cutest blouse” types. and 2. im not that interesting.

Arent you the guy that works at MLG, why dont you ever post about it?

This is more of a personal website, and as much as i devote myself to MLG, this is not really the place to represent it.

coheed - blood brothers - mewithoutyou | little rock

coheed-10.26.jpg

i almost didnt venture back into arkansas to see this, and i would have regretted it. mewithoutyou and the blood brothers are amazing. the line wrapped around the whole parking lot of the clearchannel metroplex or whatever. the venue had great sound, but they werent allowing pictures, and it was one of those radio gigs where some on air “personalities” come out and plug their crap and throw out t-shirts. there was a neato costume contest though. tigger won.

since the line was so long, i got in a couple of songs into mewithoutyou’s set. they sound so perfect live, and their stage presence is wicked sick. at one point the singer pulled out a bunny suit head they found in a dumpster and sang most of a song with it on. now that is rock and roll. those clear channel bastards cut them off before they got to finish their set though. the singer was talking, saying something about “not having any time left, thats how it goes …” when they cut his mic off mid-sentence. he kept talking though. i would have loved to hear what he said.

dredg probably would have been ok if i did drugs. or listened to the radio.

i knew the blood brothers were going to rock my face off. the crowd actually got into it a little bit. i wouldnt pass it off for a real pit, but those kiddies almost broke out a circle pit on occasion. not that im a fan of circle pits, but half-ass ones are even worse. let me tell you how half-ass this was. … i survived in it.

coheed was a bit of a disappointment. their new cd is just way too meh, and they focused pretty heavily on it. there were a lot of props and backdrops and fancy lighting to make their set epic (i would have more pics of it, but my camera was actually taken from me mid snapshot by a security guy), but even the old stuff they played didnt pack the punch it did the last 2 times i saw them. rip coheed. you were good while you lasted.

but overall the show was fantastic. it really takes a live performance to see how good mewithout you really is, and i urge anyone to try and check out the nov 1 show at nashville. last i heard it was sold out, but they said the same thing about little rock, and they were selling tix at the door. get there early, and leave when coheed goes on their 10+ minute jam session at the end of the encore.

Velociraptours rock. When Norma Jean is headlining at least. To my surprise they kicked off this tour tonight in Memphis, so I walked right on down (its less than a mile from mi casa). I went intentionally late since im not fond of the other 4 or 5 bands that were going to be in tow, but the last throws of The Handshake Murders was really good. Reminded me of old Underoath, with a little too much goth. Darkest Hour were your standard metal band and didnt woo me much.

As the NJ were setting up, this horrid feedback started pouring out of the sound system, and everyone except the crowd seemed to ignore it. Right before the one of the guitarists came out, it suddenly got 5x louder to the point where almost everyone was covering their ears. Apparently part of the set, the guitarist shut it down right when I thought my head was going to explode. Opening with some riff i didn’t recall, he played the rest of the band onto the stage. The rest was rock history.

It was a great set, they played “The Shotgun Message”, which I didnt expect, and all their best tracks from “Bless the Martyr”, and a good chunk of their most recent release. The set seemed really solid, except the crowd wasnt into a couple of the songs that should have rocked the hardest. Everyone was probably just tired. I know I am.

Best of the Best: HPC

Congratulations to synide, the Best of the Best.

That’s right, synide is the champion of the Best of the Best Halo PC tournament. In a close, close race with Kingpin(GWDPTO), synide came out victorious. Many factors were considered when choosing the champion including total kills, total deaths, total Kill to Death ratio, number of captures/assaults, KOTH time, and many others.

synide had the most kills with 72, and second lowest number of deaths with 47 (second to KingPin with 46). synide also had top Kill to Death ratio with a 1.531 ratio. KingPin didn’t do so well in that category as he had only 44 total kills.

The players with the most captures were Kingpin and Goatrope with 2 a piece. They both also had 1 assault score each. synide also had 1 assault score, but no captures.

The player with the most assault scores was Cunbelin, who scored twice right off the bat, scoring the two points his team got in less than a minute.
synide topped the board on KOTH time with 1 min (length to win) followed by Mythica with 52 seconds, then down to KP at 43 seconds.
synide also owned in the Free For All slayer match on rat race with 25 kills to the second place players’(NukeDude, and again KingPin) 17.

From what I saw, synide had real flair, playing with the same level of skill in the team games as well as the individual matches.
Kingpin also played well throughout, taking the lead often in the team games and dominating also in the individual.

And so, taking all this into consideration, We name synide the Best of the Best, with KingPin riding a close second as Best of the Rest.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated. Thanks especially to the players for giving up their time to take part. Also, thanks to those who nominated, without you guys this wouldn’t have worked.

Special thanks to GWDPTO/HBO KingPin for setting up the server for us. He did an awesome job, even throwing in a Server Query page so you guys could check out the action. Without GWDPTO and the COERCE servers, this never would have happened.

Note:  Total stats will be available with the tourney write up, which will be out sometime today.
